I am enjoying a new career as a painter of waterscapes, landscapes and skyscapes. I am especially drawn to painting reflections, transparencies and opacities in water and the atmosphere. Light creates such interesting colors, shapes and distortions that are fun to interpret with oil paint on canvas. I think about how often reflections, transparencies and distortion affect how we see our world and each other.
I have been an artist as long as I can remember, growing up in Memphis, Tennessee. I took classes at the Memphis Art Academy one block from my house, and graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Vanderbilt University.
My first career was in advertising in Dallas, then after moving to the northeast and raising three children, I earned a teaching certificate and taught high school painting and drawing in Hartford for 15 years. During those years I joined a group of Artists in the Neighborhood and held an art show and sale every year.
I have recently moved to Charlotte, NC, and love working on my own painting full time.
